A freezing effect is when the screen appears to have frozen, or the game crashed, but it's actually just simulated making usage of visual effects, like the event.
Remember to disable the tutorial background pattern, otherwise, the effect will break.
While the effect may look tricky and not easily doable at first glance, it actually requires a minimum of 6 events.
After doing that, you will have the base for a freeze effect. Now, it mostly depends on what visual effects you want to use to complement this one.
Here is another example where a freezing effect is used, based on what was taught here. Now, go make some good use of it!
On the tile where the freeze will happen, put a event that will offset the camera by a high amount in the x or y-axis (In this case 99, but do more if needed) with a duration of 0 beats. The other aspects of it, like what will it be relative to, are up to you. Then, with a event, set to enabled; along with a event, you will normally not need to change any of its settings.
At the ending tile of the freeze, use the same events, but for the event, change the x/y-axis to its original value, disable the effect, and for the event, select the background image file (if there is one) and set to its original values.
